You may have seen the blog post 6 Secrets Special Needs Moms Know being shared on social media. I love this post. I wanted to add a couple things, though.
Here are More Secrets Special Needs Moms Know:
7. Special needs moms don’t sweat the small stuff. Chances are, you won’t hear us complain about a bad hair day or stubbing our toe. We know those things are little and will pass.
8. Special needs moms know how to be more creative with our careers. For most special-needs moms, having a “regular 9-5” job isn’t really reasonable. So, if we’re not independently wealthy, we have to find flexible ways of earning money such as limiting our jobs to ones that allow us to work from home, have very flexible hours, or allow us to work while our child is at school. Single moms of special needs children are especially stressed in this area. They may not have a choice and must have a “regular 9 -5”. So, they’re limited to finding a job that is compassionate about their situation. If you know someone like this, offer to help them out. Offer to cook for them, clean for them or just give them some time alone.
